Motherhood is so hard is something you will hear time and time again these days! As a mom, I can tell you, it is the hardest but most rewarding thing I have ever done. With a 5 and 6- year- old, I am very much in this season of life and will be for quite sometime! Since Motherhood is so hard, I want to be prepared in every way so I love finding great christian books about motherhood and related topics. I was very excited when we were asked to review Lies Moms Believe by author Rebekah Hargraves which includes a companion bible study as well. Rebekah Hargraves is a wife, mama to two littles, home business owner, blogger, and podcaster living in Tennessee. Though her primary passion is her family, she is also passionate about edifying, equipping, and encouraging women in their journey of Biblical womanhood.
If you are a mom then you are probably asking, “Ya right, when will I have time to read a book and do a workbook?” Well, don’t worry, I have the same struggles. Depending on what season you are in with your kids, you have to be creative about finding time to do anything for yourself! If you like to get pedicures then take it with you and read during! If your kids sleep until 7, get up at 6 and get some reading in. Believe me, the time is there if you just look! Hargraves made the chapters easy and short so you can do this MOM, I promise!
Lies Moms Believe: The book
Satan will come at you in all directions but they are all lies! People at your church or in your family or even strangers will tell you all sorts of things about being a Mom. Things you should be doing, saying or not saying. These voices are confusing and probably all lies from Satan himself. Don’t worry though MOM as you are not alone in this journey called motherhood! God, with his infinite mercy, has given us his word! His word is truth, always, and is unchanging so that we can combat the voices and the people in this crazy world. All you need to do is study the bible and the scriptures in the bible to know the way through this thing called motherhood.
I just love Rebekah’s heart as she tells it like it is and will walk us through 32 of the most common lies moms believe today in her book about motherhood, kids, roles etc and will tackle them for us with scripture and God’s word. Each chapter of the book is a “lie” and believe me, there are some good ones! Can you relate? I know I sure did. The gospel is truth and you will see how applicable they truly are to lies and struggles you will face in motherhood!
Here are some samples of the book chapters!
Lie #8 I have to be the perfect mom
Lie #9 I have to do it all
Lie #13 I’m selfish if I have any ‘me time’
Lie #19 I am responsible for my child’s happiness

Final Thoughts
We just love Rebekah and these books so much! We cried, laughed and learned and you will too! Your purpose right now is so important and you can find and have joy, purpose and freedom! . You can find the book on Amazon here and the price is very reasonable as well!
As Jesus told us in John 8:32, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Tackling such lies as: “I am to find my identity and ultimate fulfillment in motherhood”, “Mothering is unimportant work”, and “I have to be a perfect mom”, she shows how God’s Word applies to all the lies out there, whether practical or spiritual.
