ZERO ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION
One big problem for pregnant woman is the continuous intake of alcohol and that no one has been able to come up with the right amount of alcohol that can be consumed during pregnancy. We suggest you just stay away from it as much as you can. When tempted to drink, remember that what you take in your baby takes in too. There are several defects linked to the consumption of alcohol during pregnancy such as low intellectual ability, poor coordination and a bad heart. The best thing to do is to stay away from alcohol until your baby is born.
Smoking is naturally bad for the body and when you are prego, the consequences can be disastrous for your both. A number of defects like Cleft lip, low birth rate and SIDS have been linked to smoking. It can also lead to restrictions in the growth of the intrauterine region of the body. Keep your baby as safe as you can and avoid smoking while you are pregnant.
When pregnant, one thing you will want to take to nourish your child properly is Folic acid. You might already know that Folic acid is especially rich in vitamin B and when pregnant the need for this vitamin increases tenfold. You can easily make dishes with Folic acid in the ingredients, take a prenatel vitamin with the recommended 400 micrograms (mcg) of folic acid and try to include a variety of veges in your diet. Doing this can help prevent birth defects of your baby’s brain and spinal cord. Take it every day and go ahead and have a bowl of fortified cereal, too.
During your pregnancy, since your child is so small and delicate, it would be wise to avoid all junk foods. Eating junk food is not good for your health or weight and is found to be linked to childhood obesity, an increased risk of childhood allergies and gestational diabetes. It’s easy to do when you stock your shelves with healthy snacks and make sensible choices about what you are putting in your mouth.
Taking drugs is not healthy for you and is an awful thing to do to your body let alone when you are now expecting a child. There are many kinds of drugs but the most common street drugs are Cocaine, Ecstasy, methamphetamine and other club drugs, Heroin, Marijuana and prescription drugs. Drugs (even Marijuana) should not be taken if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant because if you take it, your baby takes it. Taking drugs while you are pregnant can cause stillbirth, miscarriage, preterm labor, problems with the placenta, low birthrate and/or premature birth and heart defects in your baby. It is really a no brainer, in order to provide your baby the best nourishment, do not take drugs while you are pregnant.
