It’s no secret that online shopping is a popular way to make purchases nowadays with 76% of all U.S. consumers engaging in some type of online shopping! 25% of those consumers report shopping online at least once a month and 16% report shopping online at least once a week so it’s no surprise that experts predict that by the year 2023 there will be over 300 million online shoppers in the United States alone. So if you are wanting to join the online shopping bandwagon but don’t know where to start, make sure you check out our top five online shopping hacks to save big and make sure you are getting the best deals possible!
Check Out Free Samples
Sometimes you don’t want to make that jump and purchase a full-sized product. Perhaps the product is new or maybe you’ve just never tried it and you’re not sure it will be worth the money. That’s when free samples can be really handy. The whole point of free samples is to allow consumers to try different products to discover what they like and don’t like, all without having to shell out money. The Just Freebies site is a great place to find a large variety of product samples. You can browse through the various categories and really cherry pick the items that appeal to you most. Some of the categories you can browse include food and drink, baby stuff, makeup, health and beauty, pet stuff, household items and more.
Look for Big Sales in Advance and Make Your List
There are a few times a year where consumers not only look forward to but expect incredible deals. Around Black Friday and Cyber Monday you can find some of the deepest discounts! As an online shopper, you need to be savvy and not be swayed simply by the fact that something is on sale. When these big sales do happen throughout the year make sure you look around for the door crashers and big deals in advance and ask yourself if those items are actually wanted and needed. It’s a good idea to also make a shopping list in advance so you can stay focused.
Take Advantage of Free Shipping
Free shipping is something most online shopping sites offer today; however, you typically have to make a minimum purchase order to qualify for the free shipping. With that said, it’s best to wait until you want to purchase enough items to get that free shipping promotion or look for a site like Amazon who usually has free shipping deals!
Loyalty or Rewards Program
Loyalty programs are also quite popular with various stores and retailers, even small to mid-sized ones. Joining a store’s loyalty program can reward you with discounts, special promotions, free samples, deals and even rewards systems where you can trade in points for things of value. When I shop online, I always look for these because it is a great way to get “free” money back to make other purchases for more things I need.
Sale and Clearance Categories
Just because it is on sale or in the clearance section, doesn’t mean it’s not a great find! The final tip is to be sure you check out the sale and clearance sections for various online retailers when you are shopping online. Typically, the off-season items will be heavily discounted or items that are no longer being made (discontinued) will be on sale to you. As long as you don’t mind buying off-season or something that might be discontinued, you can really take advantage of massive savings.
