Space in New York City is steadily coming at a premium and with rent climbing everyday you need to make sure that you always have enough space for you and your family. The population of the Bronx alone, a borough of New York City, was estimated to be 1.47 million in 2017 so you can imagine how tricky it can be to find a place to live. Fitting a family into an apartment can sometimes be difficult but thanks to clever solutions, like self-storage, there are plenty of ways you can make your space go that bit further.

Multi-Use Items
One of the best ways to get a little extra space is to invest in pieces of furniture which can be used for multiple things. For example you might be able to use the space taken up by a guest room for something else by investing in a sofa bed in the living room. There are many stylish sofa beds available on the market today which are just as comfortable as a normal bed. Your guests won’t even notice the difference. Another example can be found in your own bed. Invest in one with storage built in or find some boxes which can go under the bed frame. They are likely to be the best way for you to squeeze in a little more storage to your master bedroom.
Self-Storage Units
One option to consider to free up some space in your apartment (if you don’t want to get rid of anything) is to find a storage unit. If you are able to find storage units in the Bronx it will enable you to put the belongings you don’t want to get rid of but have no room for in a secure location. When searching for a secure self-storage in the Bronx make sure you do your homework and find a good deal. If an offer for self-storage units seems too good to be true, it more than likely is.
Go Up
If your children are crammed into small rooms then you can give them some extra room by going up with different types of beds. Giving them a cabin or bunk bed also means that you can use the storage underneath to hide their toys and other bulky items which might be causing some issues. Another idea if you are really pushed for space is to invest in a loft bed. This will allow you to put bulkier furniture like a dresser or a desk underneath and free up some much-needed floor space. Children love loft beds and they will be more than happy to get one if it means they can have a little bit more space to play in.
