There is nothing better then when you find a great book to read to your kids! Sometimes it seems hard to find nowadays but Caroline B. Cooney really found several ways to give us all warm cozy bear hugs in her new book, “I’m Going to Give you a Bear Hug.” Who doesn’t like warm cozy bear hugs, right? I know we do in my house!
Without giving too much of this sweet book away, a series of comparisons are made about what kind of hug you are going to get. Each page is illustrated beautifully by Tim Warnes as you read each animal/hug comparison. The pages are big, bold and crisp and the pictures seem to jump out at you. Kids of all ages will love this book but especially ages 4-8!

Here are a couple of my favorite pages of the book!
“I’m going to give you a pig hug. A never fail, curly tail, big big big big, big hug.”
“I’m going to give you a bug hug. A wiggly wriggly, makes you giggly, creepy crawly snug hug.”

The first night I read the book to my kids, they asked that I read it again. This never happens! The next night, they asked that I read it again and asked if they could read it to me. The pictures are so vivid that my kids know what is going on just by looking at them.
Cooney and Warnes do a lovely job with this feel-good book which we use as an opportunity in our house to talk to our girls about hugs, love and even animals. The very end is just perfect for bedtime “Say your prayers and kiss goodnight.” For a fairly quick and easy read, Mom Always Knows, for sure, recommends this book to all our readers!
