Watching the news can send you into a tailspin and it’s so easy to get dragged down by the pressures and demands of this world. Let’s just say the rose-colored glasses are off for me! Life is full of fear, worry, doubt, problems and on and on I could go; but this is nothing new and really cannot be avoided. As women (and moms) what do we do with all the stuff floating around in our head…how do we shut it off? I can tell you there are many ways to deal with the daily stresses of life, but they never worked for me. Let’s see…chocolate binge, shopping binge, Netflix binge, pick your poison. All this ever did was help me put on the pounds and rack up credit card debt. So if you are the mom who worries, you need to pray about everything and here’s why.
Let Go and Let God
All I can do is share what finally resonated with me. I stopped. I let go. I let God. I used to hear people say that to me and I would shake my head in agreement but never understood how you actually did that. I think as women(and Moms) we have a really hard time letting go of control because it’s our job to take care of everyone and we know if we don’t do it it won’t get done…at least get done right! As women (and Moms) we give of ourselves all day and wouldn’t want to do it any other way most of the time but when something happens that we can’t control, figure out, or fix it can feel very scary.
(Our version of rose-colored glasses) Yes, I would sport them!
Depend on God
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a strong mind (2 Timothy 1:7). This scripture has brought me through so much. He wants us to depend on Him. He wants us to turn to Him. He wants us to trust Him. Do you know how good it feels to stop worrying and know, really know, in your heart that God’s got your back? Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6.) Coming to really understand and know in your spirit that God desires your trust and confidence in Him makes it so much easier to let go of the reigns. I’ve always kind of thought in the back of my head, “I don’t need to bother God about this.” Who knew He wanted just that.
Don’t Worry
It’s a lesson I’ve had to learn a few times in my walk with Jesus. He will show up when I stop trying to do it myself and recognize that I need Him. I can’t do this life without Him. Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding (Proverbs 3:5.) Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life (Luke12:25?) These are more than just beautiful words; these are words to live by! Mom- Pray about everything…worry about nothing.

Though I am a Dad and from a different religion. Dads are suppose to be strong . keeping a stern face or our sons and daughters will not learn to respect. and the worst part is, as dads we are not allowed to show our emotional weakness.
The lines give me a certain calmness . even though letting go is much harder for us dads.
This was a great read. I love the scriptures you quoted as well. I too used to (and still do sometimes) worry a lot about the trial and tribulations of life. It’s actually more comforting knowing that we have a Father that will supply our every need. There is no real reason to worry. But, just as you said, we need to pray about everything and understand where our help comes from. Great post!
It’s great to pray to get reconnected. Meditating also kelps to keep you calm. Thanks for sharing your different reasons.
Great points. Such a great inspirational post. I really love those sunglasses too!
I am not religious and I do believe that we can make out path, that our decisions are part of how we lead our lives and decide on which path we go. I respect that other people have other believes and as long as we all live together in peace, everyone is free to do as they think it’s better for them.
Thanks for your response! Who do you think made us all?
It’s not easy to handle a household and raise kids. It’s also not easy to deal with things that you have no control over. It’s nice that you have found how beautiful it is to have God to rely on.

This is beautifully said. It’s all about leaving it up to God and letting go of our worries especially the ones that we cannot control.
Such a great post and a wonderful reminder. My mom has always told me “pray, don’t worry. and if you’re gonna worry why are you praying?” Leaving my worries for the One who can handle them has been great advice.

I live a prayerful life and I believe that there’s a supreme being that guides us and look after us. Like what you said, life is full of fear, worry, doubt, problems and sometimes all we can do is raise both our hands and surrender. 🙂 Thanks for your beautiful post. 🙂
I worry about everything and I try to control everything. The hardest part is when I try to control something that I have nothing to do with.

Your post is so lovely! We should not worry about everything. Sometimes I can’t help it. I should be more prayerful.
Such a wonderful post! I’ve found that when I’m worrying .. prayer gives me something else to focus on in the moment. I’ve also realized very little of what I worry about actually comes to pass
This is a great reminder for everyone
It’s true general life and the problems of the world can be hard to cope with sometimes and it helps to have a coping mechanism in place what ever it is. I think we all need to learn to worry less.

I’m not really religious, but I do agree That you can’t avoid stress by filling the void with other things. Learning to let things go is the best option.

Learning to let go and let God for sure is the best option! Hang in there! : )
Coming from a general control freak– I totally struggle with this. There have been several times in my life where I was able to embrace the concept, but I have to approach it fresh each time. God is super patient with me and for that I’m grateful. Apparently, I don’t learn quickly! Haha. Great post.
Anytime I start complaining, I always end my rants with… “I’ll just pray about it”. I say it so much and so often that my girlfriend engraved a necklace with my “quote”.
Man did I need to read this today! Been hanging onto a lot lately and it brings down every other area of my life. Thank you for sharing, I’m sure you touched a lot of moms hearts with this. xoxo

I am such a worrier, but I am not a believer in God, so I can only worry some more. I admire anyone who has faith in religion, sometimes I wish I did then I would worry less!

I am not religious but I do agree that we all need to learn to let go of control in order to succeed. I know it is something that I struggle with but I am working on it!

God is in control! Give it to him and let him take care of it!
Great reminder. There’s a line in the movie Bridge of Spies where he asks the accused spy why he doesn’t seem more visibly concerned about the fact that he’s in prison. He responds, “Would it help?” I have been working lately on asking myself that question more often and remembering to trust and pray. God has shown he’s equal to the task in the past in my life…I just have to let him keep working miracles as I do my best, too.
Yes! I have to remind myself about this daily!

Great points, my best way to avoid stresses in life is to create lists, like you say, us girls have a lot on our mind and keeping organised is my way of keeping calm!
