My kids are natural born creators just like their mama. We love to create, make, take apart and put back together anything and I mean anything! I love that my kids have that creative spark and I want to help them foster it any way I can! My art space at home is limited, however, so I am always looking for places where they can shine with other shiners and get down and dirty doing what they love!
I was so happy to find Creative Arts Guild (CAG) in the DFW area because they are anything but average and ordinary! Making slime with my kids every day is fun but gets old so I looked to CAG for some other options to expand their art horizons. Of course they have paint classes and jewelry making class but they also have really cool classes for kids of all ages like dollhouse workshops and umbrella painting workshops! How cool is that! CAG let us come in and check out the umbrella painting workshop at their Wylie, Texas location at no charge so that we could let y’all know all about it!
From the moment you walk in you can feel the love from the owners, Lily and Emily. I’d seen and met them at a few local events before so I was super excited to get in the studio and see what they were all about. You can see their passion for art right away as they don’t just tell the kids what to do, they show them. The really cool thing about them too is they don’t just offer classes and camps for kids but also adults and seniors can come to classes offered to them like photography, painting, ceramics, creative writing, filmmaking, drama, music, and crafts. They plan to keep growing and opening up the type of classes they offer and the frequency so make sure you check out their website or Facebook page for updates!
My girls had so much fun at their umbrella making workshop and learned so much about different types of art styles that they could do on their umbrella and like I said, they don’t just throw paint at the kids and let them paint; they teach them about painting and what it means. They start off with drawing their plan on paper of what they plan on painting that way there is thought put into the project. I think they turned out pretty neat and they even lasted when we used them in the rain!
Make sure you check them out for art classes, summer camps and even unique birthday parties! They are MAK approved for sure! : )
