A few months ago our Pastor, Dr. Blake Switzer, told us an unbelievable true story about an Olympian and World War II hero named Louis Zamperini. You can imagine my delight to learn this amazing story continues in a new motion picture titled Unbroken: Path to Redemption and will pick up where the original Unbroken movie left off! This is a movie you don’t want to miss that will teach you powerful lessons of real-life forgiveness, redemption and amazing grace and is our Mom Movie Pick of the month!
The Movie
Picking up where Part 1 left off, Part II quickly recaps Part 1 events including the Berlin Olympics, Zamperini shot down in the Pacific on a raft for 47 days, the Japanese POW camp and being declared dead. “Path to Redemption,” starts with Zamperini (Samuel Hunt) at rock bottom suffering from PTSD as he tries to adapt, even after marrying Cynthia (Merritt Patterson) and having a daughter. Louis is plagued by nightmares/flashbacks, drinking problems, career failures and “Bird” Watanabe (David Sakurai) the Japanese guard that tormented him.
His wife convinces him to attend a tent revival hosted by Billy Graham (played by Graham’s grandson Will Graham) where Louis sees there might just be a way out if he can let go, let God and ask for help. You will have to watch the the movie to find out the many ways God worked in his life and the “rest of the story.”
From the producer of Unbroken and the writer of A River Runs Through It, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION stars Samuel Hunt (Louis), Merritt Patterson (Cynthia), David Sakurai(Watanabe, The Bird) and Will Graham as his grandfather, Billy Graham. In theaters September 14 2018, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION is a movie you do not want to miss!
