This post is in partnership with Mom Select and Walt Disney World. I received free products in order to host a #NowMoreThanEver playdate party and all the opinions expressed here are my own.
When I was growing up in the eighties “playdates” were not a thing so now that I have two little girls, who love to play, I jump at the chance to attend and host playdates for them with their friends! What’s every little girls dream playdate? Yep you guessed it, a Disney playdate! Thankfully #NowMoreThanEver hosting the best Disney Playdate or party is easy to do with these five tips!
Decide a Playdate Theme
Is your little Disney diva (or dino) into Princesses or maybe your household is more team Mickey? Whatever theme you pick, don’t worry, you can’t go wrong. We just suggest doing it together so sit down with your kids and ask them about their favorite Disney movies or characters. What kind of theme would THEY like for their Disney playdate or party? You all will enjoy spending that quality time together brainstorming and really since this is for our kids you should let them in on the planning fun! We picked a Disney Princess theme featuring Elena of Avalor and I even let the kids help me set everything up! Disney sent us a goodie box full of Disney goodies like Elena of Avalor themed party decorations so set up for the playdate was really a breeze!
Easy Invites
Whether it is a Disney party or playdate that you decide to do, make your invites easy! Admit it, we are all busy moms and don’t have time for complicated! For our Disney #NowMoreThanEver playdate, I simply texted a few of the girls closest friends to see what a good day and time would be for them. It’s a bummer when you go through all the work of setting up for a playdate and no one shows up!
No need to send out a fancy invite anymore when you can simply use text messaging, sites like Evite, create a Facebook event or just send out a mass email! If you utilize the free Facebook event feature it will even send updates and reminders to your guests and let you know RSVP’s so you can get a good food count going.
Finger Foods
Have easy and clean finger foods- the other moms will thank you! I once went to a Disney playdate where the host had messy snacks and desserts for the kids and while the kids had a blast, I spent hours after the playdate dealing with sugar crash and dirty clothes. Do yourself a favor and just pick something easy and not messy for your #NowMoreThanEver Disney playdate. We did a variety of grapes, popcorn, cheese balls and the cutest little Popcorn Cake from Popped Passion as a dessert, topped with colorful gummy bears of course!
Dress up time
Since we were having a princess-themed playdate, we asked everyone to come dressed in their favorite Disney Princess dress! This is so fun for the kids so we highly recommend it for your playdate! We have tons of Disney dresses/shoes/accessories so I pulled them all out so everyone could have fun dressing up if they wanted to!
There is no shortage of Disney characters and costumes so no matter what Disney theme you are entertaining, you can find something to dress up in! Don’t have time to get anything? No worries, you can have the kids do a fun craft and make Sophia the First princess wands or Jake and the Neverland pirates swords and you are all set.
Playdate and Party Games
What do kids come over to do at a playdate? Play! Make sure you have plenty of planned out things to do or at the very minimum two to three easy and fun games for the kids. Sure, free play is great but kids get bored of that after a bit and who doesn’t love to play organized games, especially Disney-themed games! We had a blast playing “Pin the Crown on Elena of Avalor and even gave away prizes to our winners.
Of course I love helping my girls and their friends boost their sweet and delicate self-esteem so anytime I can I let everyone have a chance to win because that is just how we do it! Thanks to our sponsors like Pillow Pets for sending us a Mickey Mouse stuffed pillow for our Elena game winner and JAKKS Pacific Toys for providing a pretty little Disney Princess Doll and Dress up Outfit for our “Ms. Best Attitude” and “Ms. Best Citizen” winners of the day!
All this talk of Disney got my family thinking it would be a great time #NowMoreThanEver to visit Walt Disney World Resort! A few years ago we visited but my girls were just three and five at the time and don’t remember much so now more than ever is a great time for us to go because they have so many new things!
New events like the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the start of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, The Lion King’s Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party and the recently opened Toy Story Land are on the top of my list for sure! This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studio so Disney recently added a Party with Pixar Pals there featuring The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Vampirina, Doc McStuffins and Toy Story with the release of Toy Story 4!
Enjoy your Disney playdate and let me know if you have some of your own tips on how to rock a Disney playdate or party in the comments below! Remember so much magic awaits you at WDW and #NowMoreThanEver it truly is a great time to visit the happiest place on Earth!
A huge thank you to all of the sponsors of our party!
